Numbers On Napkins - "Waiting For Tomorrow" (Deluxe Collector's Edition Re-Issue)

Southwestern Soundwaves

August 2020

Written By: Mads Thompson

GRADE: A

Numbers On Napkins released their debut full length album, “Waiting for Tomorrow”, fifteen years ago. As a way to commemorate the anniversary of the release, NON and Bad Stain Records have released a special fifteen year anniversary deluxe collector’s edition on the album, featuring twelve bonus tracks or rare and previously unreleased material from the band.

Numbers On Napkins plays melodic pop punk, and “Waiting for Tomorrow” was the bands most successful album, although Bad Stain shelved the album in 2017. NON fans everywhere are sure to be satisfied with this re-issue, that features all of the original tracks from the bands debut release, along with demo recordings of the bands very popular singles, “Runaway” and “True Love”. Both demo versions have a similar fel to the tracks released on “Waiting for Tomorrow”, but they maintain a more raw punk rock sound. NON also included demo recordings of other songs originally released on “Waiting for Tomorrow”, including “Broken”, “One for the Seventh”, and “42 Things You Don’t Know About Women”. In addition, the band included the demo version of “Waiting for Tomorrow”, which wasn’t released on the bands debut album, but was actually only recently released on 2019’s “From Buckeye To Beardsley”.

Other bonus tracks include the songs, “Knockin’ on my Door” and “Another Song MRR Won’t Like”, from NON’s out-of-print “QuickerDrunkenLouderHarder” EP, live recordings of “The Poor Misfortune of a Dimwitted Lemming” and “Ode to the Drink”, as well as a previously unreleased alternate version of “Fat Girl”, titled, “Fat Girls - ThickerFattenLarderHeffer” and another previously unreleased melodic pop punk tune called “Telephone”.

“Waiting for Tomorrow - The Deluxe Edition” is a strong and solid release that both hardcore NON fans, as well as individuals unfamiliar with the band are sure to enjoy!
