| Who Wants to be a BAD STAIN RECORDS Recording Artist? BATTLE OF THE BANDS |
| CONTEST DETAILS: Laundromat Productions and Bad Stain Records are proud to present: “WHO WANTS TO BE A BAD STAIN RECORDING ARTIST” - BATTLE OF THE BANDS! 24 Arizona based bands will perform live at a variety of concerts, to determine the best band in Arizona! That winning band will be fortunate enough to win a recording contract from Bad Stain Records and management contract with Laundromat Productions! ROUNDS & JUDGING: Judging will be determined in a point system. Points will be added up in a variety of ways, and the bands with the highest points will continue to move on until a winner is determined. There will be a total of 24 bands performing throughout the duration of the Battle, that will last a total of Eight Rounds. Each round will be held at a venue, TBA, featuring three bands performing. Winning bands will move forward to the semi-finals and eventually the finals. The last Battle will feature three bands performing for the record deal. PRELIMINARY ROUNDS: FAN JUDGING: Each paying patron at the venue will be given a ballot with their paid admission. The ballot will feature three bands names. Below each name will be points that range from 1 through 5. Patrons will circle the higher numbers for the bands they enjoy the most. The band with the highest number will win the fan vote. ATTENDANCE POINTS: In the preliminary rounds, each paying patron adds an additional 20 points for the band! The more fans that attend the concert and tell the door that they are there to see your band, the more points you will obtain. So getting a good amount of people at the show benefits you greatly in the preliminary rounds. JUDGING: Besides having the fans vote, there will also be three judges that will also have a ballot with a point system. Unlike the fan ballot, the Judge ballots are more detailed with separate sections. Also, judges use points that range from one through ten. The better the band performs in their category, the higher points they will receive. Judges will add points for the following categories: 1. Talent - Judges will determine how complex and diverse the music is as well as vocals. Judges will take into consideration the lyrics, as well as instruments. Bands are more than welcome to give a copy of the lyrics to the songs they perform in their set list to the judges prior to performing. If the band is extremely talented both musically, vocally and lyrically, they will do well in this section. 2. Live Performance - Judges will determine the overall performance of the bands, paying vary close attention to ensure that no mistakes are made. Judges will deduct points for off key vocals, sloppy drumming, a guitar solo that was poorly performed, or anything of that nature. Points will be largely deducted if a band has to re-start a song, or if the band is not in tune. 3. Creativity / Originality - This is determined by a lot of factors. If the band has an original style, or original sounding song, it will help. Although originality can spread out into even more ways. If the band has an original dressing style, it can help as well! 4. Stage Presence - Stage presence is determined by how well the audience enjoys and responds to your band. Bands excel in this category by including crowd participation, or interacting with the crowd in a positive way. 5. Overall Performance - Judges pretty much base this decision on how much they enjoyed the band overall. They take into consideration all of the categories and choose their favorite band from this final category. Unlike the other categories, The point system will be different. Judges only get three numbers for this category. One, Three and Five. They will give a five to their favorite performer, and a one to their least favorite. Leaving a three for the last band. Judges for each round will change. Each show will feature three judges. The judges will be associated with Bad Stain Records or Laundromat Productions. In the Finals, occasionally the third judge will be a special guest judge. At the end of the night, the Fan Votes and Judge Votes are totaled. The band with the highest total wins for the night. After all eight rounds have finished, all 24 bands will have their points totaled. The fifteen bands with the highest totals will move forward to the Semi-Finals. All results will be posted following each round online at the official website. SEMI-FINAL ROUNDS: All of the judging will be done in the exact same way in was in the preliminary rounds, and feature the same judges. Winning is still based on the highest total. Although in the Semi-Finals, there will only be five rounds instead of eight. Also, the attendance points are worth 10, instead of 20. So the more people you bring, the more points you will receive. Although they aren’t as important as the preliminary rounds. Following the end of round five, votes will once again be totaled, and the top nine bands will move on to the Finals. FINAL ROUNDS: The Finals will consist of three rounds and be a little different. Attendance points will be worth 5 points per patron, although a good amount of fans could still have a huge effect on the outcome of the show. Judging will continue to stay the same, although instead of totaling all nine bands at the end of the last round, votes will be totaled at the end of each night and the band with the most votes will automatically win a spot in the Final Show. So at the end of each round, a winner is crowned and will be guaranteed to perform at the Final Show to see if they have what it takes to win a recording contract. The other two bands will no longer be a part of the Battle. The three winning bands will move on to the Final Show. FINAL ROUND: As before, all of the judging will be done in the exact same way it was in the other rounds, and feature the same judges. There will be no attendance points for the final show. Winning is still based on the highest total, but there will only be one winner, and of course that winner gets the record deal! |
